Antiques and more
Topic: Antiques

Found a nearby auction for Sunday that looks interesting. A wide variety of "quality"? goods.
Does any blogger out there collect antiques?
Where do you buy from?
Does anyone care about antiques and collectibles. The Roadshow gives enough hype and of course they always find the treasures like on the one in Hawaii with one of the few known paintings by an early artist.
Hard to believe all the items "given" to a person by a friend, employer, family member, neighbor etc.
I got all the stuff from my parent's house. Nearly 60 years of STUFF. Probably the most valuable item was a cobalt blue Fiestaware coffeepot with lid. Do the recent babyboomer retiriees who may be downsizing really have much that is valuable in terms of antiques? They might have had Grandma's table when young, but certainly tossed it ASAP. When I see 70's items in a mall I wonder if it is what people want, or just what's out there to be found.

Retirement is swiftly approaching and being an antique dealer in a mall setting is appealing.
Maybe the idea of being an antiques dealer is pie in the sky and I should just buy the items I like for ME and redecorate to a style I never lived.

Any comments, advice, warnings, rule of thumbs for getting into antiques are welcome!
